Final Fantasy VII - Characters

Cloud Strife

Age: 21
Height: 5'7"
Description: Cloud is the main "good guy" of the game. From the very beginning, we are told that he was once a member of the elite military force SOLDIER. He has recently joined up with the rebel organization AVALANCHE to fight against the evil ShinRa corporation. Throughout the game, the player is told of his dark and mysterious past, and they follow his struggle to find out who he thinks he is, and who he really is.

Barret Wallace

Age: 35
Height: 6'4"
Description: The leader of the rebel force, AVALANCHE. He holds a personal vendetta against ShinRa for what they did to his home town of Corel years ago and swears a vengeance on them. He fights for his adopted daughter, Marlene, and so that he can save the planet from ShinRa. He is thought of as second in command through the game, and has a harsh, nasty attitude towards most everything.

Tifa Lockheart

Age: 20
Height: 5'4"
Description: A childhood friend of Cloud, she grew up in Nibelheim with her father and mother. She and Cloud are speculated to have had childhood "crushes" one on another, and a small joke is placed into the beginning of the game to show it. She aids Cloud in his internal struggle to find himself and is beside him from the beginning of the game until the end.

Aeris Gainsborough

Age: 22
Height: 5'3"
Description: Aeris is originally introduced as a flower girl walking around the slums of Midgar. Cloud runs into her and is later asked to escort her back to her house. She joins up with Cloud and travels with him, trying to collect material to put a stop to Sephiroth.

Red XIII

Age: 48
Height: 3'9"
Description: A test subject of the ShinRa scientist, Hojo. The last of his species, RedXIII, or Nanaki, has vowed to be the protector of his hometown, Cosmo Canyon.

Cid Highwind

Age: 32
Height: 5'8"
Description: Cid was supposed to be the first man ever in outer space, but his mission was flawed when his assistant Shira spent extra time double-checking one of the space ship's engines, preventing the ship from blasting off. Originally employed by ShinRa, he now holds a grudge against them, too, as they refuse to fund any further projects for exploring outer space.

Cait Sith

Age: N/A
Height: 3'2"
Description: A fortune teller that the player meets in the Golden Saucer. Cait Sith is a stuffed cat sitting atop a stuffed Moogle, robotically controlled by Reeve back at ShinRa headquarters. Cait Sith originally serves as a spy, but soon defects to Cloud's side once Reeve finds out how dangerous Sephiroth is.

Yuffie Kisaragi

Age: 16
Height: 5'2"
Description: Yuffie is a ninja from the city of Wutai. She is a thief and steals Cloud's materia if the player is not careful. She does not play a very important role in FFVII, but is a fun character to obtain and complete her sidequest. Yuffie is obtained in the forests right outside of Junon.

Vincent Valentine

Age: 27
Height: 6'0"
Description: Vincent is another secret character found in the basement of ShinRa mansion in Nibelheim. Though not much is revealed about Vincent, it is hinted that he has had a very dark and depressing past and wishes not to speak about it. He was one a Turk but was also experimented on by Hojo and now has the special ability to transform.
