Funny Computer Problem, Dead PC
ok i thought this might get the forums going as this will be a tricky one to resolve....

Ok 2 years ago i brought a stick of memorey [RAM] for 250 MB or sum thing like that, any way a couple of days my neighbours computer really hit the bottom Floor, it looked fine but it seemed it was dead , no power or no light up on the front of the machine....

yesterday, Because i had stupidly taken my Ram out and one of my Cd drives, which i conencted back the Drive, and when it started i noticed it was reading only half of my ram, Meaning my Stick wasn't it correctly....

So i put it in right this time and when i started my pc it had the same affect with my neighbours pc? i thought i'd blown my power lead or the motherboard dead....

After a while i thought ok how much worst can it get, so i removed my ram and my computer started?

How come it wouldn't start without my Ram when it had been in their for 2 years already?

Does it mean my Ram hasn't been working?

Does any one know how this could of happened? -The comp was completely Dead?

Has any one esle had any thing filmiliar? if so please explain any thing

Big Grin

So what if i'm a goth & i use Macromedia Fireworks - Not every one is CS2 Combatible

The stick itself could be bad. HTis could be due to static discharge, or the chip itself could be defective.

When you put the stick in, did you hold on the the computer's casing, and were you wearing rubber soles? If not it could have been static discharge.

It could also be that you have th wrong kind of ram. Some computers take DDR-SDRAM, while others may use another type.

Here's a cruious question: Did you ever get a message saying that the memory referenced at some random number couldn't be read?
