Monkeys, in their current form, are not the same animals (yes, we are all animals) the theory is referring to. Laymen simply use the simplistic reference in order to reach a more common understanding. Bottom line, in my book:

It is fact that every animal studied has gone through some form of evolution. Usually these cycles make the species stronger, smarter, faster, bigger.... whatever is most beneficial. I believe the human species is no different. I do not accept the idea that we showed up as we are today. IMO, it makes no sense.

That being said, I do believe in God. So, I believe that it was his will that brought us here. Everything leading up to us arriving was his will and everything happening thereafter is, also, his will. If we were created in his image, then that is WHY we came to look this way and WHY we adapted the way we did. But, I believe, we did evolve from something else.
