I'm not entirely too fond of this type of forum. I've become partial to I believe what is vBulletin, the type of forum used on TFF.com and forums.ffinsider.net. Their much easier to keep track of and are much more organized. You can also have several different levels of moderators and administrators and profiles allow a lot more.

That's why I want to upgrade to phpBB3. vBulletin is expensive and not worth it anymore.

So how much better is the newer version of this site? Is it a lot easier to navigate? Is everything much clearer in every sense?

Well Phpbb is very poor, it's ok but not good. I doubt very much that Phpbb3 will be better, i will be most likely the same structure. Why not consider getting invision power board 1.3 as it is free and as good as the IPB 2 series and lots of add-ons. I been using it for a bit. Just installed it on my site on friday. Check it out and see if you like it- www.ffusite.org/forums

I like that board a lot. Is there a downside to it, ie. innumerable amounts of ads and that stuff?

The forum i use on my site is a free version of invision power board. It is version 1.3 and it comes free with no ads what so ever unless you add your own. It has no downsider from what i've seen and is alot safer and has more security than Phpbb. Also you can get converters to contest posts, users and everything from phpbb to IPB and back again

Does it allow the webmaster to have several moderators and super mods, rather than just super mods like this place?

Yes it allows many features for moderators. You can change what they have access to, and almost everything. I recommend that you at least look at it by installing it on your local machine and running it from there to see if you like it before you make a big change to it. Well if you need any more info on it please contact me.

Well, vBulletin is expensive. It costs $160 for a lifetime license but only one year free upgrades. IPB1.3 is old. The new versions of IPB are expensive. phpBB is a poor script but after checking out phpBB3beta1 demo @ www.phpbbhacks.com I decided that it's worth to wait for it. I suggest you try the demo out.

Well I have a fourm by invision power board and I love it. I started off with Phpbb but god it sucked so me and the members move to invision power board. They like it more plus the mods have more to do. Like now you are the only one how can ban or warn any one. Right now it does not matter but when we get more member it might.
Thanks
