This has got to be the hardest game in the series.

And I'm not talking about the one for the gameboy. I'm talking about the one with a pair of these. *Holds out a couple of walnuts*

This game is in a more of a D&Dish tabletop style. You have your characters which move around a grid. All of them have special abilities. You could play as the usuals. Like the Black Mage (Wizard) or the White Mage (Priest) OR You could play as more complex classes like the Mediator (One that uses a certian skill depending on numbers. Think Metronome) or the Geomancer (A job that uses skills based on the topography. Very tough, yet rewarding class).

The reason why I say that this game is hard is especially for any kind of "Protect this person" mission. The AI is terrible on them. I had to shoot the person I'm protecting's legs in order to save him.

You'd better be a GOOD strategist to play this game or you're not going to survive the first (Actual) mission. Everything is balanced. The monsters are always level scaled for even harder gameplay. Even I couldn't beat it without using a gameshark. That's how tough this game is.
FFT is a great game. I thought it was difficult the first time I played, but the second time I just levelled like hell. There are some tricks to get high levels and tons of JP quickly.
